To fix .htaccess issues in WordPress, follow these steps:
Open your website's root directory using an FTP client or File Manager in your cPanel. Look for the .htaccess file and open it with a text editor. Check for any syntax errors or incorrect configurations.
Before making any changes to the .htaccess file, create a backup by saving a copy of it on your computer. This will allow you to revert back to the original file if needed.
In your WordPress dashboard, go to Settings > Permalinks. Without making any changes, click the Save Changes button. This action will regenerate the .htaccess file with the default settings.
Some plugins may be the cause of .htaccess issues. Deactivate all plugins and check if the problem persists. If the issue is resolved, reactivate the plugins one by one to identify the conflicting plugin.
Download a fresh copy of WordPress from wordpress.org and extract the files. Connect to your website using an FTP client and navigate to the root directory of your WordPress installation. Replace the existing files with the fresh WordPress files except for the wp-content directory. Revisit your website and see if the issue is resolved.
If none of the above solutions work, reach out to your web hosting provider for assistance. They may be able to help you troubleshoot and fix the .htaccess issues.
Remember to always test your website after making changes to ensure everything is functioning as expected.
